Mamelodi Sundowns defender Grant Kekana says the Brazilians plan to come back in better form when they meet Orlando Pirates in December.

After crashing out of the MTN8 courtesy of a 3-0 hammering from the Buccaneers, Sundowns wrapped their up their pre-World Cup league action with convincing wins against Maritzburg United and Royal AM.

The results have handed the Tshwane outfit a five-point lead at the top of the DStv Premiership table with a game in hand ahead of second-placed Richards Bay.

"We’ve been in Durban for a week. We scored eight goals, we didn’t concede so we end off on a bit of a high," Kekana told the club’s media.

Kekana though, insists the side cannot afford to rest on their laurels.

"But we know we're not even halfway there, so we’re going to take this break [but] not to get too relaxed. We want to come back stronger when we play Pirates on the 31st of December."

Before that clash, Sundowns will participate alongside Kaizer Chiefs, AmaZulu and Orlando Pirates in the Black Label Carling Cup and then take a nine week-long break from official football action.

"It’s a much-needed break. I think the boys put in a good shift in the first half of the season and [now] we’re just looking to relax," added  Kekana.

Meanwhile, Orlando Pirates are putting in the final preparations for Saturday's MTN8 final against AmaZulu, to be played at the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban.
